Not all photographs
are suitable to paint a portrait from. Please
note that your photographs should be in focus
and most importantly, close-up.
Flash photos should
be avoided if possible due to the unnatural effects of shadows.
Outdoor shots always
look more natural and generally make better paintings. If you don't have
any suitable photos, have a chat with me anyway, I may be able to take
some for you if you are fairly local or at least give you some ideas on
how to take your own.
Digital photos are very
suitable for painting from. You can send me a disc with your pictures on
or you can email them to me. Please make sure they are high resolution
photos. The picture of "max" on the right was emailed to me and
came out wonderfully.
Please, if you have an old dog and think
you might like a painting done at some time, get some good close-up photos
now.
It's very sad to turn people away because their photos aren't good enough
to do a painting from.
